Raj Sooriah, Mental Health Nurse Consultant, RN Dip. He. Mental Health, BA Health Care (Professional Practice), MBA and has 28 years experience in Mental Health Nursing ranging from acute psychiatry to community psychiatry. He has been a Senior Manager in the NHS which involved working with all levels of staff and liaison with statutory and voluntary agencies. Raj is the Responsible Person and Registered Manager for the Home and ensures the highest standard of care being delivered at Hastings Lodge and Hastings Cottage

One of the key aspects in this role was the development of staff, protocols and policies which were foremost in the aim to deliver a quality service to the service users and carers of the mental health service and learning disability in the NHS.

There are a full complement of 18 care staff on the team with a wide variety of experience and training between them.

Esther Stowe,  joined the HRS Care Team in October 2014 as the Deputy Manager. Esther has previously worked for Northamptonshire County Council and NHS as a Mental Health Social Worker (AMHP). She has extensive experience in Social Care and Health including commissioning for over 25 years.

The Home staff are selected through a robust procedure to ensure reliability, integrity, caring nature, skills, friendliness and professionalism. The Home request 2 references and Disclosure and Barring Service clearance are carried out when applying for a post.

All new staff are given in-house Induction Training by a senior member of the staff team in the following Code of Conduct:

  • Confidentiality
  • The rights of service users
  • Health and Safety
  • Care Assistant responsibilities
  • Whistle-blowing

The Home insists that all staff hold a minimum of QCF level 2 in care. The home also sends selected staff on external training courses for such topics as food hygiene, manual handling, first aid, administration of medicines and any other courses that would contribute to further develop the staff's working skills.
